These tips come from analysing what toppers do differently — not just harder work, but smarter work. Small changes in your approach can lead to a significant jump in your final score.

Master the negative marking rule early. Attempting 85 questions with 90% accuracy beats attempting 100 questions at 75% accuracy every single time. Develop your own rule — skip if less than 60% confident.

Don’t treat Tier 1 as “just qualifying.” Tier 1 cut – off’s can be high. Aim for a comfortable score above the expected cut-off to avoid unnecessary stress. Many candidates get Tier 2 toppers miss out because their Tier 1 score was borderline.

Practice previous year papers religiously. SSC CGL has been known to repeat concepts and sometimes nearly identical questions. Solving at least 10–15 previous year full papers gives you real exam exposure and pattern recognition.
