🔢 Numerical Ability

• General Awareness and Computer Knowledge have a high scoring potential because questions are mostly factual and straightforward.
• A well-prepared aspirant can score close to full marks in these two sections — making them your secret weapon in Mains.

📝 Language Proficiency Test (LPT)

• Candidates shortlisted after Mains are called for the Language Proficiency Test. This is a qualifying stage — it doesn’t add marks to the merit list, but failing it means disqualification.
• The LPT tests your ability to read, write, and speak the official/local language of the state for which you’ve applied. For example, if you applied for a vacancy in Bihar, you’ll be tested in Hindi/Maithili. For Maharashtra, it would be Marathi.

NOTE : – If you have studied the local language up to at least Class 10 level, you will likely qualify the LPT without any additional preparation. Check the notification for your state’s specific language requirement.

Preparation Strategy — Month by Month Plan

Clear Your Basics

Build a solid base in all 5 subjects. Focus on Arithmetic, Basic Grammar, and Reasoning fundamentals. Don’t jump into advanced topics yet. Make concise notes for each chapter.

Advanced Topics + GK

Move into complex topics — DI, Puzzles, Reading Comprehension. Start your daily Current Affairs habit now. Read one newspaper or follow a GK app daily. Cover Computer Knowledge in full.

Mock Tests & Previous Papers

Solve at least 2 full-length mock tests per week. Analyse every mock — identify weak areas. Focus on improving speed and accuracy. Solve previous year’s question papers for pattern recognition.

Revision + Speed Drills

Revise all notes and formulas. Take daily sectional tests for speed. No new topics — only revision and strengthening weak spots. Revise last 6 months’ current affairs before Mains.

• Spend 30 minutes daily on a newspaper. It improves English reading speed, builds vocabulary, and fills your General Awareness bank simultaneously.

• Giving a mock without reviewing it is wasted time. Spend as much time analysing as giving the test. Identify patterns in your mistakes.

• Questions on RBI’s history, monetary policy, repo rate, CRR, SLR, and Governor are almost always asked. These are easy marks — don’t miss them.

• Computer Knowledge is highly predictable. Invest 2 weeks mastering it fully — you can score near-perfect in this section with minimal effort.

• With ¼ negative marking, avoid random guessing. If you can eliminate 2 out of 4 options, go ahead. Otherwise, skip and move on.

• Don’t sacrifice sleep for extra study hours. A well-rested brain processes information 40% more efficiently. Rest is a part of your preparation strategy.

• Question: Is RBI Assistant a tough exam compared to other banking exams?
• Answer: RBI Assistant is considered moderately difficult — easier than RBI Grade B or IBPS PO, but tougher than basic clerk-level exams. With structured preparation of 4–6 months, it is very much crackable.

• Question: How many months are needed to prepare for RBI Assistant?
• Answer: A dedicated preparation period of 4–6 months is recommended. If you already have a banking exam background, 3 months of focused preparation can be sufficient.

• Question: Do Prelims marks count in the final merit list?
• Answer: No. Prelims is only a screening test. The final merit list is prepared entirely based on Mains exam scores. So, focus your energy on the Mains preparation once you clear Prelims.
